Something I learnt recently: Amazon stores all the highlights you make in Kindle here read.amazon.com/notebook which you can copy into an LLM to turn into structured notes. That way I can spend more time doing something I like (reading) and less time on something I don’t (making notes)

they are also stored locally noncloud in a retrievable fashion by LLM if they are highlights you make in the kindle app of an Android device for a file stored locally. they try to gaslight you about it but you can always retrieve your highlights somehow

Yeah, but exporting it from the local storage means the highlights are truncated even more

On the website they truncate each highlight up to a certain number of words, but on local storage it truncates to 10% of the book -- so your highlights from later chapters get killed

? can't say I've missed even a single word with my (I admit, claude coded) method, and kept the different colors for different sorts of highlights. the 10% limit sounds like some nanny corporate shit but I admit I haven't tested it because I don't highlight that much text

yeah just checked Unsong which is bought and the search of the assassin which is a file have highlights to the very end(>99%)of their huge text which is like 800-1000pages irl and there is no problem and the 10% limit doesn't exist if you have it as a file instead of the nanny corporate Amazon stuff
