Just learned it's OCD awareness month. I went undiagnosed for the majority of my life and it led to my OCD being completely unmanaged and untreated for a considerable amount of time. Even though I'm now medicated, I still struggle a lot, daily.

Intrusive thoughts are so insanely common they are very normal to us. We are talking about intense anxiety about even the most mundane things all the way to strong existential panic. Not to mention times horrible thoughts showed up out of nowhere constantly, to the point we thought they defined us!

The combination of OCD and GAD makes us constantly suffer from executive dysfunction, and makes some of the most enjoyable things for us, like music making, an absolute nightmare. We would toil away on the same song for an entire day and feel absolutely worthless because of it.

Northern Minnesota Part III took 5 years because we spent so much of that time obsessing over literally every aspect of it. In fact, we are releasing it without having done everything we wanted to with it. We just acknowledged that we'd never be fully satisfied.

If you think you have OCD, if you can, please reach out for help. Get therapy, get medication, do anything you think you need. It does get better, and you aren't alone. You don't have to live like this.
