He could be dead by then, or is that their hope? This is so disturbing.

Many of us are guessing he already is. He was granted asylum because of threats to his life by the very gang members he's now locked up with. Even if he's not dead, the government aren't doing him, or themselves any favor by keeping him there as long as they are able.
