Thinking of a few changes: 1) Make "custom url" mandatory and only allow changing it rarely. Show history of the custom url. To identify each account. 2) Make it forbidden to use in-game alt names in SQ/tournaments. 🧵 for reasoning but feel free to give your opinion here or Discord #sendouink

So 1) is just because currently we have no lasting way to identify a user that they can't hide. So this would be your "@" name that Discord has. Must set before joining SQ/tournaments. Maybe something like supporters can change it once a season, others twice a year?

For 2) the biggest motivation is to make alting harder but also it has side benefits. Makes it nicer to host. More automated stat collection opportunities. Better for casting tournaments.

Yes, this would also be a lifesaver for hosts who can't tell which players are on which team because of silly nicknames

I probably would have done 2) already but it finally could be automatically enforced with the scanner now. At first just warn user then start with short automated bans then longer. I just don't know what the legit uses for this feature are but that's what I'm hoping to learn if there are some.

At the end of the day the rule is 1 player = 1 account. Being able to identify players is quite necessary for a competitive scene. Sadly rule breakers always exist so I'm keen to make measures that make things ultimately easier for our staff.
