I've been able to get to the point where Sery_Bot can be in your Twitch channel full time. No more joining/leaving when you stream. Now it's always there when you need him. Seems like a small change at the surface, but finally can say it's done. Storytime in the thread 🧵

It seems like a silly thing to announce, when so many other bots can and already stay in your stream 24/7, so why did it take me so long? Back when scaling up the bot, I wasn't verified by Twitch. I had a hell of a time with bot stability until then. Rate limits are brutal.

To try and maintain some stability, I set it up so the bot would auto join and auto leave. That way I could prioritize the channels that were live. Not perfect, but it worked better than joining all thousands of streamers, live or not. This has worked pretty well over the years.

So, why not do this sooner? I certainly could have, but there are costs I pay for. Over 160k streamers have set up Sery_Bot. Whether live or not, that's a huge number to manage. I try to keep my server costs manageable, especially for offering a FREE service to the community.

Twitch set up a much more scalable, resilient, and quite frankly a better system for larger bots like mine to manage channels at scale. Last year I moved the bulk of Sery_Bot over to the new conduits system, except for chat. Now chat is done.

Twitch's new system isn't 100% ported over, like I'd still like to see certain user events that IRC has that conduits doesn't, but it's good enough for me to utilize, and a great improvement over managing thousands of IRC channels.
