at a certain point you gave to ask yourself, how trustworthy is the guy showing this thing off? cause like, i think flying cars are cool, but if the guy showing me a flying car has spent the last 5y straight lying to my face: i probably wouldn't believe that the flying car he showed me was real

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

also not a feasible concept for the public, anything that can lift a 5000lb (the demo was a mockup probs 3-400lbs) car off the ground can also rip any human limb from limb. Completely uninsurable, wouldn't pass regulations, would kill people (including the driver) We have flying cars, helicopters

It don't matter how cool these fake demos look. If you buy a car from the company owned by the double sieg heil guy... that makes you a double sieg heil guy by the transitive property.

comments open bc maybe i'm wrong for not believing the guy who lied to me a bunch of times about things that could easily be confirmed as a lie with a google search

i mean, the dude literally cut a bunch of "unneeded" government subsidies, fired a bunch of government workers, and then proclaimed we would save like 1 trillion dollars from it only to have to hire a bunch of those fired workers back bc we actually SHOULDN'T have fired them i don't trust that guy

yea the uhh workers from the DoE that maintain the minuteman stockpile. Firing them probs not the best idea

I had to throw the block on OP because like. Even if the OP was joking, I'm of the opinion that you do not in fact have to hand it to the guy who, as you said, has a demonstrated track record for lying like he breathes and who is responsible for cars that are Deathtrap Level EX on the road.

op is an AI tech journalist so i don't necessarily disagree with the preemptive block as a black woman who works in tech, i meet and work with a lot of people, similar to OP, who are willing to excuse things like genecide by a tech founder if new tech item is shiny enough

The guy with a proven track record of pumping fantasy to drive revenue then never delivering is the last person I'd trust to demo this tech. The original sin is my favorite evergreen summary of the Muskrat.

The entire presentation looked staged as hell. The crowd had no energy, and the car tricks look so surreal that I would bet money it was done in some game engine.

someone posted this and the implication is that the car is probably: a. made of a significantly lighter material that would not be usable outside of the demo b. missing a real engine, car seats, or anything most cars require to be street legal and usable resulting in the demo car being super light
