This might be a dumb question, but I'm assuming you don't want to use this if you are working with sensitive/identifiable data?

Not a dumb question. :) We have a zero data retention agreement with our model providers. Users can choose to opt-in to data storage on Posit's side to help us improve the service, but users are opted-out by default.

I would pretty closely read Anthropic's guidelines on ZDR arrangements. I'm not confident that it'd be safe for truly sensitive data, especially any data that the US government law might permit requesting (e.g., Patriot Act). Not sure it'd be viable in Canada. docs.posit.co/posit-ai/use...

Definitely do! I was just gonna say, Posit Assistant is kinda Databot + Positron Assistant rolled together! I've also really been loving using Claude Code in the terminal in Positron

i'm just realizing that claude opus got "lat/lon" order wrong in the description but got it right in the code....

The description mirrored by input, which used "lat/lon." Looks like it just silently corrected me lol

Is it possible to use claude code subscription rather than an API key here? I'd like to see if I can get my wife hooked up. She's been struggglinggg with gemini cli + R

Yeah, CLIs in RStudio isn't a very pleasant experience. Especially Gemini CLI😅 Posit AI is a $20/mo subscription. With the subscription, the experience is managed by the IDE, so no API keys involved.

Very interesting/exciting (and congrats to y'all's team)! Perhaps a dumb q: this looks great for data science purposes (and will prob. be my default suggestion to my students), but any idea how it fares for development? Currently using (and happy w/) Cursor for 📦 stuff, but remain open to alts.
