I figured out a minimal pattern for building a completely custom website using GitHub Actions and deploying the result to GitHub Pages, so I wrote it up as a TIL til.simonwillison.net/github-actio...

I'm using this pattern to generate myself an Atom feed of recent @inaturalist.bsky.social sightings of California Brown Pelicans so I can see them in @netnewswire.com github.com/simonw/recen...

should this 404? simonw.github.io/recent-calif... i love inaturalist, i did a RAG on bees today and had an excuse to bring up my inaturalist observations! www.inaturalist.org/observations...

someone was like "do grey bees even exist??" and i'm like "THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME AN EXCUSE TO BRING UP INATURALIST, THE NEXT 5 MINUTES OF THIS STREAM WILL BE DEVOTED TO THE JOYS OF DIGGER BEES"

ohh i found the ATOM feed: simonw.github.io/recent-calif... update the link in your repo description? (the right-hand one)
