Post

Back in March I posted that SkyFeed isn't sustainable: hosting 75,000+ community feeds for millions of readers costs ~1000€/month, and donations cover ~200€. The gap has been coming out of my own pocket. Today that changes: SkyFeed Pro is now live on skyfeed.eu 💚 [1/x]

SkyFeed Pro is 5€/month and gets you Feed Stats: hourly request counts for feeds you published. They count requests, never people. Today, a sub mainly helps pay SkyFeed's hosting bill, but since I'm the only person working on it, that buys me the time and stability I need to build new features.

Some things that won't change either way: - no ads on SkyFeed, ever. They go against the ethos of algorithmic choice - nothing that's free today moves behind the paywall - the entire backend stays open source - GitHub Sponsors stay, see next post

To the people sponsoring me on GitHub: thank you, you helped keep SkyFeed alive so far. GitHub Sponsors is still the most direct way to support me, but it does not handle VAT, which is the main reason I couldn't offer actual features through it and why skyfeed.eu uses a different one
