liter mightve just gotten away with the biggest heist ive ever seen. vheavy was not even top 2 highest presence backlines in either SQ Major or SWS GG1 while liter consistently had 2x its playrate. now they've gutted vheavy, nerfed liters already weak answers (rapid/crab), and buffed its cooler pair

we'll have to see how it shakes out but at the moment i remain unconvinced that this patch is a good thing for the game. while vheavy caught all the fire (understandable in soloq, overblown in comp imo), the most oppressive gun in the game continued to get better and better with no good answer

you say overblown in comp but area cup 59 - heavy 1-2-8-8, liter 4-14 (may 22) area cup 58 - heavy 2-8-8-16, liter 1-4-16 area cup 57 - heavy 1-2-4-8, liter 8 area cup 56 - heavy 1-8, liter 2-8-8 area cup 55 - heavy 1-4-16, liter 1-2-16 4/5 in a row... liter did get away with murder, though

im not saying its not strong but to be the *only* backline to catch flack while not being particularly overrepresented is still undeserved imo i specifically look at pick rate over placement in events because 1) its on a per-game basis, so for example multiple of those 1st/2nd place heavy teams

swapped off for at least one game in finals and who knows how many in previous games and 2) top X representation is much more context dependent than pick rate. e.g. if grey picks sblast, its likely to place very highly as long as its a good weapon but that doesnt mean its better than cBlaster.

pick rate represents what teams think is strong and what they think will win them games. its clearly strong being able to consistently place like this, but if its EGOIST playing it every time it will always place well. and i dont think its problematic for heavy to be played by 4 of the top 16 teams

I think saying heavies swapped to edit 4/27 times (+1 hydra) across 5 area cup finals as a mark against heavy is somewhat disingenuous esp by comparison to pen or liter neither can flex easily in-role heavy lets you—that's a feature but you're bringing a splatling player b/c heavy is strong
