I'm kind of...ready to let go of "linux" as some sort of artist statement. I want to make way more room for creative expression in the sound arts. I've abandoned myself for too long. My identity is not the computer.

Linux is awesome, I run gentoo, I have fun on linux. But sometimes I just want to be able to focus on recording and editing without having to think about the computer. or without having to buy a bunch of hardware dedicated to obtuse workflows (which is also a fun thing)

it's just the risk of getting too into your tools as an artist. the joke i make with respect to doing graphics engineering is that it's like if a painter went and got a phd in materials science because they wanted to learn about how different pigments interact with binders and solvents

i think there is always benefit in understanding how your paints work, but i meet so many people who just end up going one way or another. tool building is such a deep practice on its own, it's way too hard to do both. best to know which lane you want to be in for whatever period of time
