Beans of any sort? Bell.peppers and garlic. Fish? Bell peppers and garlic. Beef? Chicken? Pork? Cabbage? Pasta? Oh you bet. Sometimes they get fancy and want to use butter or olive oil. And add onions.

Do I need green peppers and garlic for "Hamburger Baked Beans?" No. I have never in my life made a hamburger or baked beans with green bell pepper.

Imagine how much more delicious your hamburger would be with green peppers and garlic! (FYI: I think almost every savory dish is improved with onions, a little bit of cut green peppers, and garlic. And mushrooms.)

But when you do need to use green bells, try subbing green poblano peppers. They take a little more time to sauteé, and sometimes need more salt, but the more complex, and smokey flavor can make a world of difference to the dish in the end
