Post-script: I think there's a very good (and true) argument on an increasing split between US pop music and that of the rest of the world, where other sounds are crossing over with broader cultural influence. I genuinely wish the data was easier to aggregate and track.

This is where YouTube played into account because I do believe the new rule about streaming—while have benefits—still has its drawbacks. Like Global 200 being less representative since big countries like India and Indonesia listened to music via YouTube and free Spotify.

I know I don't make content (...currently) but I'd be comfortable categorizing anything in a best/worst hits list on the basis of "the music listening public will likely recognize this", or "this sparked conversation". Ie: I'm comfortable putting Charli XCX / The Strokes on a worst list this year.

Because at this point what worth would I get out of sticking to said conventions of the charts (it's not even like other creators are using that structure anymore so that lists are easy to compare to).
