it's a new era of computers doing things, arguable whether it's best to be computer doing things in a business or computer doing things mercenary but i respect both

i was pretty happy about the old era of doing things where apparent quality was commensurate with effort, not so happy about the new era where suddenly everyone is hawking veneer-wrapped sawdust as though it's handcrafted hardwood.

as an ikea customer cuz i have 199999999 things on the to-do list above handmaking furniture (despite how fun it sounds, and having been an inhabitant of my body when i did used to do that), i can appreciate that theres a time and place for things and that options are nice
