I think the engagement bait era of social media that were in has fucked any form of meaningfully criticizing people for doing bad things. I keep seeing creators being subjected to non stop harassment over a small infraction, sometimes from a decade ago The winning strategy now is to never apologize

Like I look at these attempts at “accountability” and its all toxic parasocial no life behavior, I think you can straight up get away with never addressing it bc most of the people were never arguing in good faith, addressing it at all proves to them they can continue harassing you bc it works
