I know this ship has long sailed, but am I the only one to find the use of "compute" as a noun so off-putting?

To be fair, "computational resource usage" does not have the right ring to it.

How about “computation”

I don't think "computation" has quite the right meaning. I think of computation as the end result, whereas "compute" referrs to the computational resources that went into the computation. E.g. "we don't have enough computation to train the model" doesn't sound right.
