AirBnB really needs to stop hosts from demanding personal details from guests. This didn't used to happen, but now half the time I'm being told I have to upload my driver license to some random website or my reservation will be cancelled.

Even if you ignore the serious privacy concerns & identity theft risk, this is just inconvenient. And why do they need this information? Airbnb should handle this & provide hosts with the necessary assurances so that they don't feel they need to collect this information. And Airbnb should forbit it.

Yeah, this happened to me and we refused. The booking went ahead, I suspect the host knew they wouldn’t get another booking in time and Airbnb may have sided with us for a full refund. I think Airbnb need a clear stance at the very least. I’d rather just go to a hotel if Airbnb increase expectation.
