I need to address this In Latin America, we are taught the Model of 4 Subregions (or Subcontinents). For us, 'America' is one single, giant continent. To study it better, we divide it into four distinct cultural and geographic regions: North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean

For us, 'América' is the name of the whole continent, from Alaska to Argentina. That's why when you use 'America' to refer only to the US, it sounds strange to us. To us, everyone born in the Western Hemisphere is an 'American' (americano).

We view Central America as its own independent cultural region, not just an extension of the North. It has its own distinct history, identity, and shared heritage that sets it apart from both Mexico/US and South America.
