Q3: How do you avoid being distracted by your pet (or wild animals outside your window!) throughout the workday, especially on tasks that require deep focus? #StetChat

A3. I find that prevention is key! I try to play with my cat before I start editing. But…she’s a cat so this approach has its limits. Sorry I was late to the party, had a medical appointment . #StetChat

A3: I find the birds outside more distracting than my cat, in part because my cat finds them distracting! Peri is a Mighty Hunter who will wake from a sound sleep in another room and zoom onto the windowsill near me if a bird lands there. #StetChat

Sometimes she hears them approaching. Once I got to see a very startled mourning dove backpedal in mid-air when Peri leaped onto the windowsill as the dove was coming in for a landing. There are screens, Peri can't get to the birds but she really wants to.

I like to watch the local crows, usually in spring, when they are performing acrobatics. The leader of the local murder likes to hang out on the parapet across the courtyard from me so I get to see his displays a lot. I've learned the alarm calls too. A minute's break here & there is good for me.
