Corporate profits and tax revenues grew together until the Trump tax cuts. Now corporate profits are at an all-time high while tax receipts are at their lowest since 2021.

Graphic proof of the long-term heist of the nation’s wealth and fiscal stability. Brought to you by the GOP, in service to their donors. In plain sight. Simple looting. They blow up the deficit by crashing revenue-then blame “takers,” then hack away at health care and food support. Since the 80s.

Looks like a plan for welfare for the idle rich while starving the working poor. I like to think that I am not misunderstanding the graph and that I am not alone in being offended by monumental Crystal Ballroom style hypocrisy. Just saying.

It wouldn't magically make the revenue line go up, but couldn't a portion of the latest decline be the tax gap? Like I assume some portion of the receipts will/should be recouped for the last few months (though the defunding of IRS makes it more difficult.) taxpolicycenter.org/taxvox/delay...

taxpolicycenter.orgDelayed IRS Tax Gap Estimates Could Obscure Policy And Staffing ImpactsWithout timely updates, policymakers and other users will have less evidence for judging how tax-law and staffing changes affect compliance and collections.

Not to MENTION the corporations got billed ~ $300B for tariffs, collected at least 80% of it from CITIZENS and downstream customers, AND THEN got a TARIFF REFUND of all that money - and didn’t give any of it back to the CITIZENS. It’s like a 2nd FULL tax cut #predictthegrift

This is not only partisan politics (the corp tax reductions) but it’s truly RECKLESS For the long term viability of the gov’ts income statement and balance sheet. Even IF one believes in “supply side” that side isn’t paying JS for their side, #predictthegrift

Receipts swing with the business cycle, refund timing and deductions, so one comparison can mislead. Lower rates leave more capital with households and employers, and revenue has historically followed growth. Growth is the lever, not higher rates on the people investing.
