When I “rest” during a migraine attack, ie lie down in a dark room with an eye mask on and earplugs in, it’s not restful, it feels like work; it’s not restorative, it’s evasive

like I don’t get up afterwards like ahhhh! ready to tackle the remainder of the day!! it’s relief at best (provided I’m actually feeling better) anyway this is just to say, i see you, if you are sick and/or disabled and need a lie down. For all I know, that might be work for you.

feels like a time tax. like I know maybe it seems "nice" to take lying-down time but I can't and shouldn't DO anything during that time, other than let painkillers kick in. I would love to have this time back instead I get to stare at the backs of my eyelids so sensitive to light that the sun hurts

on the flip side I did a big work thing yesterday suspecting, KNOWING even, that this would happen. I got a whole day and a half of conference time! so I'm learning how to deal with this. learning a new concept of time. feels uncanny. feels bizarre. feels like I have a lot of reading to do.
