So many people with aviation psychosis claiming that the Wrights’ invention is going to reshape global geography when it can’t even go more than 25 yards

“It’ll change things when the technology improves” it will NEVER be possible to put as many people in an aeroplane as you can on a Cunard liner

we're less than a decade into LLMs. like imagine the internet in the 1980s, that's where we're at on the curve

No it’s not. They've been plateauing for 18 months, theres no more data, and synthetic data doesn’t really work. this essential tailing off in LLM advances explains the non-stop horseshit being peddled around safety and them turning into god next week. It’s autistic hustlers desperately on the make.

Yeah, they were sitting around trying to bullshit people it was going to solve science and become your therapist (remember that era) then open clawd happened and they were like - fuck yes thank God lets bullshit about agents, why didn’t we think of that.

“They’ve been plateauing for 18 months” contradicts the experience of the people who use them. I’d say they’ve been useful for only half that time, and they’ve been getting rapidly better rapidly this year.

Do you know the current error rate on LLM legal queries? 70-90%. General relatively complex queries 20-30%. Its. A. Next most likely. Word. Autocomplete. It has. No fucking clue. What its spitting out. It has no ability to determine factual truth. It’s doing statistical token matching.

It doesn't need to be able to determine factual truth at any given %, it just needs to be part of a loop in a broader system that can produce reliable outcomes faster or cheaper than without. Even a very unreliable component can be part of a highly reliable transformational system.

> It has. No fucking clue. What its spitting out. you know, i can't say i disagree on this point. though it brings up some uncomfortable questions about biological consciousness and metacognition
