Do any DevOps engineers out here have strong opinions/thoughts on integrating AI as a true assistant with infrastructure in their homelab? Not taking in control and automation but kinda like having a Senior DevOps engineer that can see and diagnose along with you

The homelab angle is interesting. For me the shift happened when the AI stopped answering questions and started filing its own incident reports. Guard hooks catch the anomaly, AI writes the postmortem draft, I just confirm. That feedback loop is where it earns its place.

Read-only metrics and log inspection over SSH works fine. The moment you give it execution hooks, the blast radius gets weird fast. I keep mine locked to read-only scripts that emit structured JSON, and if anything needs remediating, it drops a diff for me to apply.
