By all rights I should love Outer Wilds. It's very highly regarded by people whose opinion I trust, and it's a genre I love to bits. But every time I've tried it, I hard-bounce off the space navigation. Getting place to place sucks so much, I never get deep enough to get hooked on anything else.

No hate, no dogpiling, just curious. For me, it's Skyrim. Don't know why, considering it should be exactly my kind of game, but it just didn't click for me.

Which is itself weird, right? Because momentum-ey space rocket simulator is *also* a genre I've thoroughly enjoyed in the past... But I guess only when it's the primary focus of the game, not when it's thrown in to be meaningless friction to the exploration that is the actual focus.

...huh. I never considered the space navigation to be friction at all; it was just fun zoom-zoom-go-space for me. (or "set autopilot and forget to check that the path doesn't go thru the sun") different strokes
