I really like this. I actually wish you were even *more* opinionated. We all need to agree on a stack/toolbox and move on with our lives. Most of us would benefit from someone more grizzled than us just telling us what makes up that stack. We can always change it later when we know more.

Why the recommendation of mypy over eg pyright?

Honestly mostly because pyright requires installing node on my ci system and it’s a hassle
