Well, yeah, Trump should leave all the glam to the Cheesecake Factory in place in American society NOT the White House because the White House does look like Saddam aka Trump opened up a Cheesecake Factory aka the White House! What's with all the gold!!!

Missing completely the "opened by Saddam Hussein" part entirely. The White House looks tacky as hell these days, which was the point and you are intentionally ignoring that.

Feels like some people are missing the point on purpose. Cheesecake factory is not under attack but I mostly see articles coming to its defense rather than comparing Saddam Hussein decorative flair with the current White houses aesthetic

…this is all just so d u m b; of course this is the line the United States of America rallies around being it is no longer a serious country but a perpetual poorly produced reality TV show.

It was a good line, it got under Trump’s skin like everything Obama does. And Cheesecake Factory is gonna be okay. This doesn’t require a think piece. If you’re concerned about civility, Obama isn’t the person who needs to be corrected.

Another stupid make-the-Dems look bad tendentious Atlantic article. Maybe the crassness of the Cheesecake Factory has its place, but its place is not in the White House. Obama is right to call out a crass, gaudy commericial desecration Trump is imposing on Washington. Government is a serious

business, and Obama is right to expect some gravitas. This is more than just a matter of "look." The significance is that the Trump cheapening of the White House reflects a whole thrust of policy that despises the highest virtues of humanity, in favour of show and cruelty.
