The nice thing about a $10 million wealth cap and not having poor people or insanely wealthy people: - no concentrated poverty - no concentrated wealth - no means testing - hard to marginalize groups - hard for capital to capture government - capital is democratized - *all* labor is honored

I feel like there's this hugely unexplored opportunity in the gap between communist/anarchists and soc dems. It's all very "pie in the sky" and so you get the portland freaks with their communes and dumpsters and then the technocrat professors writing white paper and staffing DSA campaigns.

But its all very marginal to the "serious people". And yet within the Socialist Opportunity Gap there's so much raw good that people would love (starting with stuff many other countries have) and modern states have never even dreamed of having but are totally reasonable.

I mean, we are such a rich country. We have *so* many talented people and resources. Imagine a state uncaptured by oligarchy, unfettered by poverty. Imagine investment in research 100x previous levels. Sectoral bargaining with workers on each corporate board.

Universities and trade schools that blend together seamlessly with worldclass infrastructure technologies, with rural investments that transcend cosmopolitanist divides. Decentralised public media funding democratized at the local level that pays for journalism and the arts in every community.

Concierge government service hubs designed to empower citizen social access: education, libraries, media, infrastructure, economy/jobs/finance/social services/healthcare.

But this all starts with a basic premise of the US as a Constitutional Liberal Democracy: liberal values and liberal forms of knowledge. Egalitarianism and pluralism combined with higher order thinking such as relativism, skepticism, secularism.

Most right wing political values, laws and rhetoric would thus be unconstitutional. Limits and taxation or limits on regulation could not appeal to principle other than specific pragmatism. No appeals to religious authority or tradition. Every law must past a test of egalitarianism and pluralism.

This is all abstracted and subjective, and a constitution is only paper, but some specific levers may be in order, such as actual wealth caps, or possibly provisions for material necessities, or even admonishments of some of our gravest crimes in areas of military, police and prisons.

The first reaction many people likely have to a $10 million wealth cap is shock at the absurdity of the ask. How would that work?!!!! - Many assets are worth much more than that (houses, jets, companies, etc.) Break up ownership.
