If your life is missing proactive art you have to engage with art that makes you uncomfortable. Trying to assimilate what makes horror great into mundane, mainstream, genres strips away what makes it great.

Life is horrifying. It’s also unpredictable and unfair in the distribution of horror. Horror movies have a limited scope, usually moral rules, and they end. I watch horror movies to feel like horror is survivable.
