People aren't cheering on violence. If that were true they would be cheering mass shootings, serial killers, police murders and so on. The major media outlets are being purposely obtuse about WHY people have sided with the shooter. Just like God said, someone fought back.

What about the two men who tried to take out Trump? Was he not a murderer for not acting on COVID when he first found out about it and did nothing? I didn't hear anyone defending them.

Which only reinforces Republicans' bullshit narrative of the "radical left" cheering on a murderer, no matter that the victim was a greedy piece of shit. Having had canceled insurance myself, I absolutely get the anger and frustration, but this won't help us out of the woods in the 2026 midterms.

And to clarify, Luigi Mangione is no longer 'fighting back'; he lashed out once, and now he'll probably spend many years (or more) in prison for it. Imagine the outcome if John Lewis had killed the cops who beat him? The real fight ahead will require all hands on deck, not rotting in jails.

All I can think of is The French Revolution and King Louis XVI. The past is present. "Their coming was like the falling of small stones that starts an avalanche in the mountains." Gandalf via JRR Tolkien

i'm not crying for the loss of a grub other corp execs are hopefully looking over their shoulders will they rectify their wrongs? nah - they'll beef up security 'cos that's what they can afford with their ill gotten gains

By it's definition a revolution isnt peaceful. That's missing the point of what Kennedy was trying to say, though. Give folks a decent, lawful method to address grievances that actually works, or those grievances will build up and up until they explode out in violence

Almost all rebellions are due to economic oppression with no recourse. And if enough of the population feels like they have nothing to lose, you get a basis for networking. If one guy dead on the street has them shook...what will it take for permanent change? #EatTheRich

It will likely take some very radical measures to shift society toward fairness and justice. One problem I see is that few people can agree on what that would look like.

This is the difficult contrast. It’s the Hitler vs killing is wrong? Also the heroism of the killer vs the dead rich white man that was deliberately killing people for profit. Dostoyevsky would have loved this. He was also Russian.

I agree with this. The problem is, that the whole system exists and it is bad, could be much better, but some people want the money and don't want to change the evil system, so others have nothing left. And the rat pushed in the corner is really dangerous...

Every time in history when inequalities get this great a collapse occurs. Those in power that allowed the divide were ostracized. Those that tried to make the inequalities worse met worse fates. Robber-Barrons allowed their monopolies to be divided and donated money to Arts/Humanities/Science.

When the executive, legislative, and judicial branches failed over and over to fix things, millions get fed up and feel there's no other option than to take matters into their own hands. We have a media focusing on the effect rather than the cause because those causing harm finance their channels.

Just imagine it democrats had really fought for universal Healthcare instead of trying to make Republicans happy we wouldn't even be here. We should have shoved it down their throat. They have no problem fucking us over. But when dems are in power they want to play fair and that's the mistake.

I don’t doubt the CEO was ridiculously and preposterously rich, and probably was in his position, because he had the kind of personality to make ruthless decisions about people’s coverage. Then there is Luigi who not only shot him, but did so into Thompson’s back. That’s just cowardice.

It wasn't meant to be a duel, but rather an assassination. You wouldn't call the executioner a coward for carrying out a death penalty. (I'm not supporting death penalties, but that's a separate discussion.)

The people needs to rise and fight against the rich. They have gotten to comfortable and we have allowed it. They used to fear the people. Its time they fear us again.

Precisely! The good folk feel like all of our once noble institutions have utterly failed us, that there are no guardians for us, especially with the rise to power of a genocidal madman and his goons.

Preach Where has “doing things the right way” gotten us? Folk hero Luigi Mangione undoubtedly saved more lives than he’s taken. #RobinHoodie #TheAdjuster By inspiring healthcare companies like the Anthem Blue Cross anesthesia policy changes. And it’s only the first month.

Well put. Violence becomes the last resort. We tried asking nicely first, but our requests were denied. Our pleas fell on deaf politician ears. Lives destroyed by medical debt. It is obscene. Our American nightmare. We must wake up!

UHC is not the answer... Half of my family is in Canada, my mother and father are in the USA. They have been cared for by Mayo through Medicare and Medicaid they pay for, and they have had the same cancers as my aunts and uncles in Canada and the Cndns have passed because of the "free" HC treatment!

If they have both Medicare and Medicaid, chances of them paying for either of them is zero. Medicaid will cover payments for Medicare. My husband is disabled. He had both, his monthly payment was ZERO. He pays for Medicare after he lost Medicaid. That comes out of his SS check

History shows that when there is great income & class inequality, the masses start to rebel. Add to that a dual system of justice, where wealthy & well connected committing crimes get off constantly, there is a breaking point. Prime example Trump & cronies.

Nice write up heavenly father dude...It's being said more and more...even by folks who would have laughed/scoffed a year ago at the thought of taking the protest against the elite to another level...FAFO rich fuckers...we aren't your fuckin livestock...

A non-trivial percentage of Trump voters literally can't read what you've written. lmao "policy positions". The only policy they care about is white supremacy and 'owning the libs', literal children.

I don't blame them honestly. When was the last time Democrats actually fought for something? Sure Democrats have far, far better policy than Republicans. But they will compromise with Republicans at the drop of a hat. They think it's a good idea to campaign with the Cheney's. Something must change.

Just saw a post that Trump is recommending that car-crash reporting for Tesla be scrapped. Which is just an absolute and blatant abuse of power (Tesla's already had problems with reports). This type of behavior is exactly what will grow vigilante justice into a fury.

Unfortunately, the Democratic leadership does not fight back with equal and opposite force. Millions and millions of Americans are looking for leaders who will. When the American people have taxation without representation, revolution follows. Only the OLIGARCHY HAVE REPRESENTATION IN WASHINGTON.

Four straight years of "tHe jUSticE DeepArtmUNT" COMPLETELY FAILING to arrest even one of the architects of Jan 6, much less the LEAD coup launcher that we all saw with our own eyes, direct his star-spangled brown shirts to attempt. Rightfully, there's ZERO faith in our PROVEN FAILURE institutions,

I don't care. This has gotten grotesque. That man had a family, and this fawning over Luigi must be adding to their pain. Luigi's family is distraught and even they recognize how horrible this is.

I do battle with my insurance company almost weekly. While I will not condone violence, I can understand how someone could be pushed to the brink. As a nurse I know the lingo and how to navigate the system, and even I get very frustrated. The system is designed to get you to give up.

Health insurer CEOs remind me of Roman emporors, giving their clients the thumbs down in a colloseum. Cancer? Thumbs down. Diabetes? Thumbs down. Heart disease? Thumbs down. People cheer when the emperor gets his comeuppance. Why wouldn't they for the CEO? Also murder is bad.

People voted for the party that wants to gut the ACA, medicaid and medicare. They don't give a fuck about justice, they are just happy to see someone richer than them getting killed. But they would be happier if they could take his CEO seat for themselves.

I won't believe a single line of those "fight back" fairy tales when the US people knowingly chose the worst collection of billionaire assholes to ever soil the Earth as their rulers. Trump, Musk, Ramaswamy and all the gang : that's those who have been chosen.

How many voted of those making snarky comments against the murdered CEO voted Trump because the eggs were to expansive and are sold by a latino clerc ? Or because they read something about trans people in school, or because they dislike vaccines, Ukraine and millennials ?

It has certainly opened conversation about the healthcare system. It’s mind-blowing that a brazen assassination was needed. Can’t you make it stop? Happy Christmas 🎄

People aren't joyful about the death of a man. We don't know him enough where there's anything that would endear him to us. We're joyful about the death of what has become a symbol of corporate greed & the knowledge that CEOs are afraid they may face repercussions for the suffering they profit from

Think of the Dirty Harry movies back in the day. Rogue cop bringing justice with that damn cannon of his. We cheered because even if he broke all the rules he still got the bad guys. And they were usually wealthy assholes who deserved it (Discussion of current police overreach for a different day)

You don't get to pick and choose when you've enabled the extra judicial justice cheat code. The game has changed, Rottenhouse rules have prevailed. #becarefulwhatyouaskfor

Thank you God. That is the perfect explanation for the killing. I never condone killing an innocent person who is not a direct threat to life or property but the UHC CEO was a direct threat.
