Labour are worst then Tories, why can't we build on brown field sites? We need to be protecting Habitats for wildlife. Not destroying it, in my lifetime (67yrs) we have destroyed over 60-70% of Biodiversity. It's too quiet, more individuals are suffering from air pollution etc.

Agreed, I am so disappointed in their policy. They've approved the largest data centre in Europe on beautiful green belt land in Potters Bar. Residents are fighting it, but it's devastating. Larks were singing their hearts out there this week. So much wildlife and so many people use it.

It’s interesting that The Guardian seems determined to attack Labour or Liberal policies internationally on a slow Sadcore drip of misery. Pls let voters know the key difference Tories, Reform and Lib Dems policies climate /conservation. Then decide if you want Farage in power.

Great article, which is horrifying enough that it's come to this, but I feel the ending is slightly misleading. "Its legacy, if this terrible bill is approved, will be a grimmer, greyer, unhappier nation". When in reality, it's that this brings us ever closer to full climate breakdown.
