With a multi-party proportional voting system the dirty money problem is contained but in a 2 party distorted voting system like FPTP (eg. in USA & UK) there's too little democratic competition and both parties remain eager for the dirty money and their turn at the trough. 100% I say this all the time. If we can get money out of politics, everything solves itself. No way to profit from being a politician (before, during, or after), no need to profit (ban political ads), and ban contributions by corporations. End the lobbying bullshit.

because there is a belief in enough of the citizenry, no matter how far out on the glimmering & ever vanishing edge of possibility, that they too will one day be one of those people. it's a usually unspoken part of the American ethos.
