Sinn Féin is to vote against a hare coursing ban on the grounds that it would have "unintended consequences". Mary Lou McDonald says the party is "not obessed" with the issue, and she believes it doesn't decide "whether you're on the right or the left". www.thejournal.ie/sinn-fein-ha...

Hare coursing should be banned. They can gwan away out of it patronising rural areas as if we're off hare coursing at the weekend. A few big doners do well out of it, no doubt.

Hare coursing? Bloody hell, the UK banned that particular bloodsport along with fox hunting under the Hunting Act 2004, and against a lot of organised opposition from people who wanted to keep killing things with dogs for fun. If even the Brits can do it, etc etc..

This is all really just catching up and ending the privilege which "country sports" had for centuries. Cock-fighting and dog-fighting were banned in the UK 200 years ago because they were what working class people did in the cities but rural hunting was what the upper-classes did so it remained.

SF is a strange party. They had the left vote pretty much sown up only to start actively trying to lose it ever since. This is just another example of them trying to push the liberal left away. They seem to think they can take on FG for the right and in cities they will, but not in rural areas.

It does nearly decide wether I'm going to vote for your party though Mary-Lou. And it's a Hell no after that little speech.
