Drawing on the latest research, the “Planetary Health Diet”—emphasising minimally processed, plant-rich foods with moderate animal products—can have multiple health benefits. For example, this approach could prevent approx. 15 million premature deaths per year.

📄 The report highlights that current food systems contribute nearly 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing food loss, waste & adopting more sustainable agricultural practices are among actions needed now.

🗨️ This is “not a one-size-fits-all approach”, says Commission co-chair, Walter C. Willett. The Planetary Health Diet is designed to be flexible, accounting for cultural diversity & personal preferences within scientifically informed guidelines.

Policymaker engagement will be key. Supportive policies can help drive a transformative shift in our food systems—towards equitable access, respect for cultural differences & a healthier, more sustainable future ↗️
