Brand New have announced a 2026 tour centered on The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. The announcement immediately renewed attention on the band’s history and the allegations surrounding Jesse Lacey.

In 2017, multiple women accused Jesse Lacey of sexual misconduct, including claims that he engaged in inappropriate and exploitative communication with minors, such as soliciting explicit images and maintaining sexualized conversations when he was in his 20s and the accusers were underage.

Lacey issued a public apology in 2017 in which he acknowledged harmful behavior and pretended to take responsibility for his past actions, notably not responding in detail to every specific allegation raised.

Following those allegations, Brand New canceled scheduled dates and entered an extended period of inactivity and silence regarding touring and public activity. They came out of the shadows previously in the last few years to the live scene, with protests and middling attendance

With the 2026 tour announcement, both Brand New and participating venues have disabled comments on social media posts announcing the shows. The band has turned off comments on its official posts related to the tour, and venues promoting dates have also disabled comments on their own announcements.
