I feel like people online VASTLY overestimate how much an average person think about certain social issues everyone online acts like everyone else has already taken a side and it's us vs them, when the reality is more like 5% us 5% them and 90% that aren't aware there is even an issue to begin with

most people who use genAI aren't "pro AI techbros", they simply haven't thought about the consequences of overrelying on them

for better or worse, the average person on this planet HAVE NO STRONG OPINION about democracy, censorship, genAI, mass surveillance, LGBTQ rights, climate change, urbanism, overconsumption, class consciousness and so on

yes, these are all very important and serious issues and folks ought to learn more, but the fact of the matter is that this just currently isn't the case
