[Ongoing thread] The (*space) sci-fi recommendations thread I'm going to gather here all the stories I love, all the ones I recommend above all to those who are curious. It's just my personal opinion, of course, and there are bound to be things you'll like or dislike. πŸ–– (*mostly)

/ For All Mankind (TV, 2019) Hi Bob! I have to start with this AppleTV+ show because I've already managed to convince thousands of people to watch it. βœŠπŸ˜‚ A blend of alternative space conquest, utopia, and intense drama, For All Mankind offers us such a beautiful β€œwhat if?” Season 5 in 2025.

/ The Expanse (TV, 2015-2022) Beltalowda! A formidable geopolitical epic set in the solar system, The Expanse is the benchmark space sci-fi show of the last decade. There is an ending, but it's open enough to one day continue and adapt the last three novels (all nine books are also recommended).

/ Battlestar Galactica (TV, 2003-2009) So Say We All! The benchmark for the previous decade. A realistic approach to a desperate situation, with a fascinating mythology and plenty of twists and turns. And many characters I still miss. It's amazing what they've managed to do with so little.

/ Scavengers Reign (2023) A magnificent animated show unfairly treated by streaming services. This series follows a handful of crash survivors on an alien planet as exotic as it is dangerous. It's beautiful, it's poetic, it's a nightmare. It remains one of the decade's finest surprises.

/ 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) It's inevitably the first film I've mentioned, even if it's not for everyone. Slow and contemplative, 2001 is nonetheless a treat for those who prefer to find their own answers. It's such a beauty. Even decades after its release, this film was a revelation for me.

/ 2010: The Year We Make Contact (movie, 1984) I love this sequel because it approaches the subject in a very different way from the first film - as all good sequels do. Here, the story is much more accessible, and even provides answers to some of the questions raised in the original movie.

/ Silent Running (1972) A tragic environmental fable long before leaving a future for our children became a political issue. Bruce Dern is incredibly intense in a role that left a deep impression on me. Also, R2's ancestors and a Valley Forge that has joined the pantheon of great cinema ships.
