Genuinely the finest Sci-Fi show (and shared universe, with Stingray and Captain Scarlet) of the 1960s - high praise considering the decade also gave us Star Trek and Dr. Who.

Watching this show on DVD as a kid growing up was such a core memory for me. Still wanna get that recent Corgi model of Thunderbird 2 - that oneโ€™s always been my favourite.

Part of why I love Thunderbirds is the core premise is different from (almost) every other action show. Everything else is (good) group A fights (evil) group B. Thunderbirds just save people. And it's awesome.

Thunderbirds are still a go & fun to watch to this day! Also, watched the live action TV series, UFO. It first aired this month in 1970. Lasting 1 season, its "assets" shifted to Space 1999 which also aired this month but in 1975. The sci-fi bug has been with me a very long time I'm happy to say.

"Look, no strings!" Yes, the team had evolved Supermarionation, using rear-sticks instead of wires, adding blinkable eyelids, lighted eyeballs for the Hood & solenoid-controlled silicone cheeks allowing for single-shot expression changes. Wild? You bet!
