Gonna vary from player-to-player but as a former member of the Fast Bowling Union I HAVE to wear two sweaters on most occasions to keep my back warm & (relatively) flexible. Suspect most players DO FIELD BETTER when wholly warmed-through. To fingers especially.

I am with you on the layers. Even on hot days. Taking a sweater off and handing it to the umpire, then taking it back at the end of the over, is part of being a bowler. Don’t really know about the Union…they wouldn’t have me…said I was too short…
