I am always flummoxed at how defense spending gets a blank check, but public infrastructure gets called socialism. I want my roadways clean, my schools safe, kids educated and fed. I want workers taken care of and paid. We deserve Healthcare. Educators and scientists looked on as inspiration.

I want us to take care of the Earth that we live on. I want us to take care of the people that are around us. Everybody has feelings we need humility, accountability, and respect. BUT GOD FUCKING FORBID THE MILITARY DOESN'T GET 895 BILLION FUCKING DOLLARS A YEAR.

The base budget for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year. (DoD): Around $849 billion Nuclear weapons programs (via Dept. of Energy): Approx. $32 billion Other defense-related spending (VA, Homeland Security, etc.): Adds about 3 billion more.

To put into perspective that’s more than the next 10 countries combined. It’s over half of all discretionary federal spending. If even a small fraction of that went to rail or public transit infrastructure, it could revolutionize American transportation. We could get on par with China, swiftly.
