The Australian Classification Board has formally announced that Halloween: The Game has been Refused Classification, meaning it cannot be legally sold or imported into the country. The Board's reasoning was that the game "contains illicit drug use that is linked to an incentive or reward."

The game has now appeared on the public database for the Classification Board's decisions, though it notably only lists the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. At the time of writing, the game is still available for purchase on Steam and the Xbox Store from within Australia.
