also the in-house 85/15 ground beef I picked up yesterday was six bucks a pound. Beef was already an indulgence - tips are double that - but that's a lot when chicken/pork/tofu/beans are literally right there.

there's a tax for not buying 3+ pounds and managing the leftovers - our market only stocks bulk packages of in-house brand chicken etc. If I want under 2 pounds I'm forced into bell and evans.
