Pass an...ethics reform package? What an asshole.

His brother quite literally produced Trumps entire career and presidential candidacy. In America, politics is a subsidiary of the entertainment industry and Rahm's brother is one of the most powerful predators in that industry. Talent management is the most powerful racket in the country.

He is right but for the wrong reasons. Assuming we could even remove Trump through impeachment that would just give us JD Vance who could then run as an incumbent in 2028. Can you just imagine all the media desperate to give him his "honeymoon" phase? "Vance deserves a chance to govern..." NO

The advantages of incumbency are real. For ex, had Biden stepped down for health reasons in 2023 giving Harris a chance to govern and run as an incumbent in 2024 the results of the 2024 election could have looked very different. Make Trump the biggest lame duck in history but don't elevate Vance

your example is purely hypothetical. I think it could have helped her a lot if she did good things with the time, but that isn’t a given based on her VP record and campaign

Of course it is all hypothetical because it didn't happen. But the advantages of incumbency are real and well documented. Had she had a year to govern and did so competently that would have entirely changed the tenor of the 2024 election. You don't think Vance would LOVE to run as an incumbent?

I want to see Dems putting the entire admin under a microscope with hearings and subpoena power. But I don't so much want people like RFJ Jr. impeached with only months to go in their terms anyway to go on to new grifting careers. I want them behind bars and that means DOJ prosecution in 2029.

There's a certain audacity to the fact he's not willing to just take up a nice (private) hobby, disappear from the public, and consider himself fortunate that the only accountability he'd face was not getting to pursue his presidential ambitions. And yet...

Ok Rahm, I'll bite. What would an ethics reform package look like when the people running our government are fine with operating outside the bounds of existing ethical constraints?
