And – though I had very little to do with this – I'm very proud of what @mk.gg and the team around @emdashcms.com have created. This can genuinely now be the 'spiritual successor to WordPress', the team have built a prototype into a real 1.0 product. blog.cloudflare.com/emdash-cms-p...

I managed to run EmDash on a shared server without having to go through Cloudflare, which works. But to be a true successor to WordPress you need a good plugin environment and the Astro image optimisation should be wired into the official template. @mk.gg

It is! The default image component uses Astro image optimisation. On Cloudflare that defaults to Cloudflare images, and on Node it uses the built-in sharp image service. You can switch it for any other provider.

Will update and see if I can figure it out how to enable the image optimisation. The other issue I had was a form /email integration. It will be interesting to see the improvement made by v. 1.0 (I still have v. 0.37.0).

The coolest thing, of course, with EmDash 1.0 is that @mk.gg has managed to lever atproto into it. EmDash plugins are decentralised, published and downloaded from atproto. It's a really awesome system. WordPress community members will remember the ACF plugin fiasco. That is just not possible here.

Why is Cloudflare trying to write CMS? CF is becoming a behemoth swallowing too many other companies, and it will be its downfall in the end
