If I was the CEO of a big company I don't know if I would check the political alignment of the creators of hardware I think is cool I don't do that currently and had never heard of the modretro controversy (to be clear I hadn't heard of modretro in general)

Imagine if you had to check the political alignment of everything you bought x-x Not only can you never be completely sure, but since political stuff isn't just binary, pretty sure you wouldn't get a lot of options (if you stop from a small thing)

There's a difference between having an item in the background that is from a company that did another sketchy item, and like... directly lobbying for laws or giving money to companies that directly do unethical stuff
