When I got all the STUFF in my head about altstream out in that giant blog post I mentioned they didn't know SRS was leaning into AI yeah? They switched backends. Which is pretty impressive to just go "Oh that's slop, welp, yeet" I might see about moving my stuff to what they chose too actually

Anyway, I was negative about it out of the gate mostly because of the AI stuff and the Big Concerns it would die at like... 7 streamers. But demanding every alternative be completely ready to fight Twitch from day one (or EVER) is why we keep losing alternatives. That's not sustainable in any way.

My vision for a streaming world that sucks less is about 40 sites like Altstream that all negotiate a common protocol for federating live-status data and passing raids around. Then the global discovery is a communal project. So if this sticks but is limited to, say, 50 streamers? Go from there.

"But what about all the monetization and features and stuff!" Yeah it wouldn't have that. It would select against growth and finance oriented streamers. Not because I hate them but because as a platform nothing like this can really give them what they need.
