This stuff is so infuriating. The filmmakers and marketing team behind “Primate” (2026) should be ashamed of themselves.

This is disappointing. You would think a low budget production would be more honest and down to earth, giving credit to the people who made their movie, but no. Listen to "Primate" (2026) dissing their own CGI by Outpost VFX. Video by @vsgro.bsky.social www.tiktok.com/@v_sgro/vide...

How pumped I would be just to meet VFX artists and watch them work, I wouldn't be able to shut up about all the cool shit they did for my movie. I can only assume that filmmakers either don't respect or fear VFX so they don't involve themselves at all, when it's the backbone of movie magic.

It's really just a marketing ploy to get the nerds hyped. 10 years ago you HAD to premiere your movie at ComicCon to generate Reddit buzz, today you have to hype up your pRaCtIcAl EfFeCtS because according to the internet every CGI effect looks like SPAWN.

Willis O'Brien's biography by Gregory Kulon includes reproductions of very misleading contemporary press accounts about the making of "King Kong," though the production seemed to just be doing a total blackout on any information about the effects to preserve mystery.

I think this happens because studios are bent on only pleasing Generation X/Y audiences that are so attached to 1980s blockbusters that anything else made afterwards will always look artificial to them. With this mindset, they might as well bring back VHS in its low-def picture glory.
