I did for awhile and then they started posting numbers nonsense and I was like "OH well never mind then" I like to think there are people who just never got around to unfollowing them.

Honestly probably. Most people don’t put that much effort into pruning the people they follow. And also, bots.

Did we ever find out who runs it? I blocked it a few days after joining bsky because, honestly, I'm paranoid and that's a whole thing that's on me.

There's been plenty of speculation (and some recent rumors that I need to dig into), but the short answer is no. AltNPS is remarkably anonymous, and seems to go to great lengths to maintain that anonymity.

Interesting. Guess I'm not the only one that's paranoid and suspicious at this point!

I don't follow it... but I haven't heard what's up with them either. What's the deal?

It is an infamous scam. Per @skepchick.org and others who have covered it: skepchick.org/2025/06/the-...

skepchick.orgThe “Alt National Park” Resistance Account is So Obviously FakeTranscript: When I was a little kid, I was a spy. I was super into it, mostly thanks to a book called The KnowHow Book of SpyCraft, which gave detailed instructions on how to be a sneaky little guy…

Ahhhh, yeah, that is really depressing to see so many follow it. Thanks for the link explaining, I'm glad its outside any of my circles - I'm going to make sure it stays that way.
