Our national forests are a treasure. The Trump admin's gutting of the US Forest Service & threats to sell off national forests to states or even corporations puts these ecosystems at risk & can contribute to elevating wildfire dangers. It's an attack on science-based stewardship of public lands.

A few years back, Australia introduced an even more extreme fire danger rating of Catastrophic. This is something that I see very many other nations needing to do. Not the least of which being the USA. I'm sickened by the conditions my grandchildren will face, and what it will be called.

A simplified system is in use for areas in particular danger of wildfire. Moderate High Extreme Catastrophic. Areas where there is no such thing as low danger.
