Not really. There have been actual visual novels in VR (My Dearest published a lot of them) and plenty of narrative adventure games in VR since the early days of the medium.

Everything feels novel if experienced for the first time. You should have said "This feels novel to me" then. To the VR audience at large, it won't feel novel.

Ace Attorney is not a visual novel. It has a fixed set of commands, an inventory and freedom of movement. So it's a command based adventure. It's not limited to traversing branching paths by means of multiple choices. Visual Novel = Choose Your Own Adventure in terms of genre.
