Imposter syndrome! Blah!! I'm pulling for you! #kidlitchat

I've learned that writing every day doesn't kill the imposter syndrome, but it does overcome the resultant writer's block. #kidlitchat

Yeah, I was doing so well at the start of this year, writing a new picture book draft every day. And it was doing wonders for my overall mental health! Then, I let life get in the way and I missed a few days... then a week... Then the entire month of August... *sigh* #KidLitChat

That's why I'm afraid to skip a day. Coming up on Day 3000 in a couple weeks. It has created a chain of events that has led to a pile of manuscripts and an agent and a nice place in my community. Plus, I feel like an actual writer. #kidlitchat

Here in the Kansas City area, we call that "brain weasels." Glad you had a good story time, though. #kidlitchat

"Brain weasels" sounds way too cute for it. (At least, the friendly, cartoonish version that my brain conjured up!!) But I love that y'all have a fun name for it. I wish they would go away. I am glad for the story time, though. I need to focus on that. #KidLitChat

Maybe it minimizes their power a bit, but no, it's not intended to be cutesy. They're carnivorous, rabid, bitey jerks, chewing through my brain wires. Brain weasels are the worst. #kidlitchat

Thanks! I am trying to focus on the highs of the story time (& ignore the lying negative voices) There were so many toddlers actually sitting quietly to listen my story--and we completely sold out of copies of THE PRINCESS AND THE FROGS (including the extra copies I brought along)! #KidLitChat
